Miss Universe 2016, 65th edition of the prestigious pageant is currently taking place in Philippines. A sea of beauties from all over the globe has literally turned The Pearl of Orient in to a mega entertainment scene. This year Roshmita Harimurthy is representing India and we must say (Bitvie Team) that she is slowly bringing her A game in the picture.
India has had tremendous run at Miss Universe pageant beginning in the early 90s and going on till late 2000s . In between it got two crowns with Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in the year 2000. Besides, many semifinalist and finalists that includes the likes of Namrata Shriodkar, Gul Panag, Madhu Sapre, Nafisa Joseph, Tanushree Dutta to name a few. Roshmita Harimurthy has been mentored by Lara Dutta, Miss Universe 2000.
India's performance was not quite up to its reputation between the years 2008 and 2011 but India began to be noticed again in 2012 and enjoyed three successive placements till 2014.This year leggy beauty from Bangaluru is representing India at the 65th Miss Universe pageant in the Philippines.
Her victory at the national pageant was not cheered by many pageant enthusiasts and many even called her an average beauty. Unfortunately many so called experts with unproven credentials have even called a poor bet.
However nothing has stopped Roshmita Harimurthy in shining at the Davao show where she got loudest cheer from the fans in the Philippines. Her performance was quite different from other girls inasmuch as she didn't present herself like a wannabe but rather performed elegantly. Her walk was full of confidence, just the right amount and the right kind and didn't look like a wannabe Latina. Self assured of beauty and a stage presence that is very strong to say the least.
Going by her introduction videos, it is very likely that she will nail the interviews. She has a very pleasing demeanor and at times comes across as a mystery.
Roshmita's beauty may not be everyone's cup of tea but Miss Universe organisation has crowned winners who didn't look the best. A beauty contest about so many things which must fall in place and it will be interesting to watch how the pageant unfolds. In our opinion, she holds many aces and has begun to slowly turn around the game as many hyped front runner are slowly fading.
It is very clear that she has not received much media coverage but the real thing will happen on preliminary night and until then it will be wise to just sit back and enjoy. We wish Roshmita Harimurthy all the very best.
